About Urban Colors Arts and Mentoring

Since 2005 Urban Colors has empowered families to reach their potential by providing comprehensive development services in a diverse and caring environment. Urban Colors Door has practiced a holistic human approach to helping each individual member dismantle the complex barriers that often stand in the way of success.

Each year serves struggling families with children from all over Denver with a wide range of services including health care, GED and English language classes, tutoring and homework help, college preparation and computer classes, career development and training, job placement, legal services, arts, meals, sports and recreational activities.

Families who come to Urban Colors often face many barriers before they arrive here. We are proud to offer an encouraging environment, and through our integrated services, form a supportive network — a springboard to help launch our families forward and a safety net to catch them if they fall. Because the challenges facing our families are many and varied, we know that the solutions must be just as multi-faceted. Integration is the cornerstone of our programming because we feel that increased staff collaboration and truly "wraparound" services lead to stronger springboards and more tightly woven safety nets.

Urban Colors was created as a model to demonstrate the effectiveness of providing comprehensive, integrated services and of developing networks of linkages among existing service systems. The team is made up of professionals in the fields of health, counseling, law, education, social work and the arts. They set out to develop a program that would offer families relevant services, programs and meaningful life alternatives. At the start, there was no money, no space, no equipment or staff – only a group of deeply concerned volunteers who recognized the crisis of at risk families and were determined to do something about it.

Our programs evolve with the needs of our families, but our goal remains the same — to help each and every family who walks through our door discover and achieve his or her greatest potential.."YOU CAN WITH UCAM"
