"Coming of Age Academy"

We serve youth through three core programs:
Community Based Mentoring - The program meets in the community during days and times of their own choosing and determines activities based on common interests. Community Based Mentoring includes mentoring which serves children who have an incarcerated parent.
Site Based Mentoring - The program meets regularly at a specific, supervised location where they build friendships and participate in activities in a structured environment.
Activity Based Mentoring - The program meets regularly to participate in pre-planned and supervised activities around a specific theme. Activity Based mentoring includes the Sports and art programs.
These type of relations build skills; enhances positive interactions with other youth and adults in order to help young people prepare for challenges in life and succeed in adulthood.
The mentors role is to encourage and provide guidance and support. Many people say that the support they get from this type of relationship helps them build character and adjust to the challenges of life mentor helps you Opening the Way through coming of age.
The workshop will change how young people view, value and accept themselves in life. It will help them understand how to feel about things going on in their life. This program marks the transition from one stage of life to the next. It is a time for one to begin working toward developing harmony and respect with his/her inner self and translating that into more positive and healthier relationships with others. These sessions are held in after school and weekend workshops settings. Highly recommended for ages 12-18.
